WORLD WINNERS 2003 - Glencharm Sofie Lovely Funny & Poulsgaards Be My Talisman
In the evening our good friend Flemming Larsson from Denmark - the president of Danish Sheltie Club, world-known scientist invited us to the dinner in the restaurant in his hotel. During a very tasty dinner we made arrangements for the following days World Show, discussed the days events at the show. Also news of our dogs and families during last years. Some years ago we visited Mr Flemming twice and spent some very interesting weeks visiting to the biggest sheltie kennels, international and sheltie shows, Danish sightseeing (Legoland, the seaside etc).
Early in the morning Mr Flemming's "Citroen" and our "Mazda" started the trip to Dortmund and after 3 hours we were in the hall. It was the biggest show I have ever visited: many people, cars & dogs. Many rings but little place…
The Sheltie rings (2) and Collie rings (4) were held in one hall, numerous classes were held simultaneously, so it was very difficult to show two dogs, (I was a handler of "Sofie" and collie "Yulek"), and to see all collies and shelties being exhibited, as well as taking photos and video. Large class entries and small ring size did not help the judge to make a good choice because the handlers could not show their dogs excellently in such a small ring...
Shelties presented at the World show were also present at the sheltie show with some exceptions. Judges: Jack Bisham (GB) and Sergio Lopez di Kaspro (Brazil).
This day the world knew the new names of the World Winners - the best shelties on our planet! Youth World Winners 2003 became LUNDECOCK'S DAY AND NIGHT (Edglonian Dirty Hary at Frensplope x Romlingens Naughty But Nice) br.&ow.Andersson, Sweden among 29 bitches and MARVITHOLL ISKANDER (Marvitholl Starlet x Marvitholl Lillit) br.Tsaruk, Russ, ow.Korna, Est. amongst 13 dogs. The bitch was attractive in her very rich sable coat and perfect grooming, the dog looked nice thanks to his black-black color, excellent body and movement.
For the titles of World Winner "fought" 104 shelties: 16 champions in each of the dog and bitch classes and 36 entries in each open class. In the Champion classes's winners were - halfbrother and sister CH EXCELLENT CHOICE IMPISH FIRE (Mister Magoo of Blue Tails x Moorwood Theme of Magnificent Glory) br.&ow.Henkel, D (very popular shelties in German show ring with numerous BOB and BIS) and CH LANA T'WIJNMEER (Mister Magoo of Blue Tails x Claudette t'Wijnmeer) br.&ow.Zandwoort-Koenen, NL, (also very successful show sheltie) - taking ResCACIBs. "ТC" (Impish Fire) was more successful at World show than at Sheltie show because at that time he beat his main rival Harlequin di Selvaspina (1st at Sheltie show that "TC" was 2nd). "Lana" at Sheltie show took "very good". Open winners "fought" among the most numerous concurrent : POULSGAARDS BE MY TALISMAN (Poulsgaards Symphony of Strauss x Concordia's Hilary vom Zitadellengraben) br.Pousgaard, Dk, ow.Olsen, Dk (at Sheltie show he was only "excellent" without place) beating the outstanding Brilyn Leading Ways from Finland: World Winner and Euro Winner 2001. Mr Bisham (the judge for dogs and BOB) liked very much "Talisman" and give him not only BD, CACIB & WW but also BOB.
The winner of Sheltie Show was shown here also in open class - St Kilda's Victory Made - she took 4th place. The winner of open class, Best Bitch, CACIB and World Winner 2003 became our blue merle youth - GLENCHARM SOFIE LOVELY FUNNY (Kamajakin Asparagus x Black Bumblebee from Goat Valley) br.&ow. Himich, Ua - "Sofie" made a big surprise for us to win such a great title at only 2 years. (By the way our lovely "Tino" won his main and the biggest victory also at 2 years - BIS at 2nd Sheltie Show in Germany'97). As it is a very big show we would have been very glad if Sofie took any place, but such victory was a real surprise for us: during examination at the table the judge Sergio Lopez di Kaspro ask me about the size of my sheltie (because Sofie is not a small sheltie) and took measure and made it himself, after making description he says "ok, excellent!" - so after this query I am not so sure of future judging… When all open bitches with "excellent" were in the ring and after some circles of movement in the ring, "Sofie" remained in the middle of the ring - judge says me "First!" - I could not believe my ears and cannot saying anything…I was HAPPY!!!
Judge and spetators like "Sofie" for her nice muzzle and expression, perfect body and movement, wonderful blue color and charm. People congratulate us and Sofie for such a nice success at the show, by telephone, post and Internet. Thanks a lot for everybody!!!
